RentMV provides short-term rental services in Martha’s Vineyard, including:

  • Bicycle rentals
  • Motor vehicle rentals
  • Vacation home rentals
  • Aircraft rentals

RentMV may operate as:

  • The direct rental provider, or
  • A marketplace connecting renters with third-party owners

Specific rental terms may apply to each category and will be provided at booking.

3. Eligibility Requirements

By booking a rental, you represent that:

General Requirements

  • You are at least 18 years old (or older where required).
  • You provide accurate and truthful information.
  • You have legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.

Car Rentals

  • You possess a valid driver’s license.
  • You meet minimum age requirements (typically 21+ or as specified).
  • You maintain valid insurance if required.

Aircraft Rentals

  • You hold valid FAA pilot certification.
  • You meet currency requirements.
  • You carry required documentation and medical certification.
  • You comply with all FAA regulations.

Home Rentals

  • You agree to abide by all property rules.
  • You will not exceed occupancy limits.

RentMV reserves the right to deny service at its discretion.

4. Booking & Payment

  • All reservations are subject to availability.
  • Full or partial payment may be required at booking.
  • Prices are subject to change without notice until confirmed.
  • Taxes, fees, insurance, fuel, cleaning, or security deposits may apply.

Failure of payment may result in cancellation.

5. Cancellations & Refunds

Cancellation policies may vary depending on rental type.

Unless otherwise specified:

  • Cancellations made more than [1 Month] before rental may receive a partial or full refund.
  • Cancellations within [1 Month] may be non-refundable.
  • Aircraft and peak-season rentals may have stricter policies.

Weather-related cancellations for aircraft are subject to safety determinations.

Refund timing depends on the payment provider.

6. Security Deposits

Certain rentals require a refundable security deposit. RentMV may deduct amounts for:

  • Damage
  • Excess cleaning
  • Late returns
  • Fuel shortages
  • Violations of rental terms

7. Use Restrictions

You agree NOT to:

  • Use rentals for illegal purposes
  • Operate vehicles under the influence of drugs or alcohol
  • Sublease or transfer rentals
  • Exceed occupancy or weight limits
  • Operate aircraft outside approved conditions
  • Use vehicles off-road unless permitted

Violation may result in immediate termination without refund.

8. Assumption of Risk

Renting and operating bicycles, vehicles, homes, and aircraft involves inherent risks.

By booking, you acknowledge and accept all risks associated with use, including injury, property damage, or loss.

Aircraft rentals carry elevated risk and are subject to strict compliance with aviation regulations.

9. Waiver & Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

RentMV shall not be liable for:

  • Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • Lost profits or travel disruptions
  • Weather-related cancellations
  • Third-party actions
  • Mechanical failures beyond reasonable control

Total liability shall not exceed the amount paid for the rental.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability where prohibited by Massachusetts law.

10. Insurance

Insurance coverage may vary by rental type.

  • Car rentals may include limited coverage or require renter-provided insurance.
  • Aircraft rentals may require proof of renter’s aviation insurance.
  • Home rentals are not covered for renter personal belongings.

You are responsible for confirming coverage before use.

11. Property Damage

You are financially responsible for any damage occurring during your rental period, excluding normal wear and tear.

Damage claims may include administrative fees.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless RentMV, its owners, partners, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from:

  • Your use of rentals
  • Violation of these Terms
  • Negligence or misconduct

13. Third-Party Owners

If RentMV operates as a marketplace:

  • Rental agreements may also exist between you and the property owner.
  • RentMV is not responsible for third-party owner actions.
  • Disputes may need to be resolved directly with the owner.

14. Website Use

You agree not to:

  • Attempt to hack or disrupt the Website
  • Scrape data
  • Misrepresent identity
  • Post false reviews

We reserve the right to suspend accounts.
